A Harvest of Thorns
by Corban Addison
5 stars
This is another great read by the author Corban Addison. This book involves the garment factories oversees and a fire in one factory in Bangladesh. The fire is not only going to impact the lives of people working there who lost lives or were left in handicapped conditions, it ends up impacting one major clothing line that was worth millions of dollars. One of the higher up officials becomes involved in finding out how the fire happened which causes an avalanche of discoveries on their own garment factories. They discover bribes for under the table deals, and how upper management in their own factories were aware of conditions not to be tolerated per factory ratings for safety already in place and ignored. He grows not only in his knowledge of horror he discovers he was totally unaware of and his own company kept in the dark about, he also learns a great deal about himself personally. When one finishes reading the book, you can get an ah-ha moment of thinking on how our own clothing comes about, what all is involved in the name brand clothing lines, no matter how big or small, and how they are sewn together to be worn by all.
